Pos system A Point of Sale (POS) system is a system for
managing the sales of retail goods. The term is used to refer to the software
and hardware associated with checkout stands, and all of the bundled features
which are included.
Data
The database that Chili’s uses is Microsoft’s “Common Object
Model” or COM (DCOM). The type of data
entered.
Procedures
The servers gather the information from the table they
attend. This information includes drinks appetizers and entrees. When the
server puts in the drink he himself goes and gathers those drinks. If the
server has an order of appetizers and entrees he enters the appetizers first
and presses the delay button and then enters the tables entrees. In the back were the cooks are they would see
the appetizers first and begin making them. After 5 minutes the entrees would
then pop up on the screen and chefs would start working on them. This gives
time for the appetizers to be made and go out first while the chiefs are
preparing the entrees. Any liquor drinks automatically go to the monitor at the
bar and they make them in the order they come in. a server can enter orders at
any time.

If there is ever a mistake in the placing of orders there is
a button to put in late orders called the Refire button. This will show the
cooks in the back that this item needs to be made first. If the order is completely wrong the server
must run to the back tell the chefs then get the manager to override the whole order.
